Bijan Robinson Signs Historic Three-Year Extension With Falcons, Becomes NFL's Highest-Paid Running Back

What happened

On August 4, the Falcons and star running back Bijan Robinson reached agreement on a three-year extension valued at a maximum of $75 million, including a record $51 million in guarantees for a non-rookie running back deal. The pact carries a $22.25 million average annual value, surpassing Saquon Barkley’s previous high, and runs through the 2030 season. Robinson had been holding in during the first week of training camp while negotiations continued. Coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed the deal and said the team would ramp Robinson back into practice gradually.

Fantasy impact

The extension removes any remaining uncertainty about Robinson’s long-term role and availability. He remains a clear RB1 with elite dual-threat production (league-leading 2,298 scrimmage yards in 2025) and should continue receiving heavy volume in Atlanta’s offense. Fantasy managers can draft him with confidence that the hold-in is resolved and his workload is secure.
