What happened

Bears running back Kyle Monangai, who had been sidelined since the early days of training camp with a soft-tissue injury, returned to practice and participated in team drills on Tuesday (August 4). Head coach Ben Johnson had described the issue as day-to-day and expected the absence to be on the shorter side. Monangai had previously been limited or absent for multiple sessions.

Fantasy impact

Monangai remains the primary complement to D’Andre Swift in Chicago’s backfield. His return stabilizes the RB2 picture and reduces the short-term upside of depth options such as Roschon Johnson or Salvon Ahmed. Fantasy managers who rostered Monangai as a handcuff or flex candidate can view the injury as non-threatening for Week 1 readiness, though a gradual ramp-up is likely.
